Bank of Maldives (BML) on Thursday made their selection of the five most notable projects to provide aid under the second quarter of their 'Aharenge Bank' Community Fund, a nationwide campaign to empower individuals and Non-Profit Organisations to contribute to society by conducting sustainable community projects.

The five projects selected by BML to provide aid:

- Kihaadhoo Development Society, to install a community park in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll

- Feydhoo Environment Development Association, to gift residents of Feydhoo, Shaviyani Atoll, with plastic bottles in an effort to reduce single-use plastic

- Kolhufushi 'Ekuveri' Club, to construct an area at Kolhufushi School in Meemu Atoll for use by parents and students of the school

- A donation to Fareeda Ibrahim, to install a park near the beach in Hulhudhoo, Seenu Atoll

- Abu Bakuru Ali Foundation, to develop a special education needs classroom in Gaafaru, Kaafu Atoll

"One of the biggest targets of the bank is to return the money that the bank generates back into society. Accordingly, 110 projects were successfully carried out with the bank's aid last year in a way that encompasses the entirety of Maldives", declared Mohamed Saeed, BML's Public Relations Manager.

"With this year's introduction of the bank's Community Fund, the amount of financial aid provided to social developmental projects conducted in efforts to advance society across Maldives has drastically increased."

"Further, the projects selected in the first quarter of this fund has successfully aided the community in five islands", he said.

The window to submit proposals for sustainable projects to receive aid under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund has opened from August 29 till noon of September 16.

It aims to fund non-profit work including educational and sporting activities as well as environmental preservation efforts.

Five best proposals will be selected in every quarter of the year to receive financial aid amounting to MVR 50,000 to conduct the projects.
