President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented Letters of Appointment to two state ministers on Monday.
The president appointed Aishath Athiya Naseer, from Fuvamulah, as State Minister of Education, and Zilfeena Hassan, from Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, as State Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services.
The two new state ministers received their appointments at a special ceremony held at the President’s Office.
Aishath Athiya Naseer completed her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Nottingham. She was the former principal of Aminiya School until her termination in 2015. However, the High Court ruled last July that her dismissal was unlawful and ordered compensation of MVR 155,000. She served as the Chief Administrator of privately-run ADK Hospital until her newest appointment.
Zilfeena Hassan attained her Master's and Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia and the University of Abertay Dundee, respectively. Currently a doctoral candidate, Zilfeena was a member of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party's congress committee and served as editor for a number of magazines.
