Maldives Police Service, on Sunday, arrested a police officer accused of sexually abusing two minors.
According to the Police Spokesperson, the officer has been remanded for a period of 15 days by the Criminal Court.
The alleged sexual abuse was initially reported on October 18, 2018. However, the case failed to take wind, as it was found that the allegations lacked adequate proof.
A second case involving another minor was then reported on March 27, 2019. Police revealed that the second child was abused prior to the accused's international departure, during a no-pay leave period.
"The case is being investigated by the Family and Child Protection Department and the Professional Standard Command", said Police, when the issue originally surfaced on May, 2019.
