Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Maleeh Jamaal, on Sunday, revealed ongoing efforts to finance science fairs and other science-related activities carried out at schools.
Speaking at the inauguration of the science fair held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hiriya School, Minister Maleeh stated that a national science foundation would be established to provide assistance to schools. He elaborated that aid would be granted to conduct scientific research and educational activities.
Furthermore, the minister stated that the aim of the foundation was to instigate progress in the field of science, conduct research and widen the scope of science and engineering education.
However, he did not specify a date for the establishment of the foundation.
The Minister stated that science fairs were the best method to expose students to STEM-related education and provide a platform for career preparation.
Minister Maleeh stated that highly developed nations had proved that technology and science were at the heart of national development.
Several student teams presented inventions at the fair held under the theme, 'Hiriyan Scientific Solution for everyday life',
