A senior citizen aged 76 who fell from the fourth floor through the elevator shaft of a building in capital Male', succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.
According to Maldives Police Service, Naseema Dawood from Kalaidhoo, Laamu Atoll, fell through the elevator shaft around 0130 hrs on Thursday, sustaining injuries to her skull and fracturing her right leg.
Naseema was living in capital Male' with her family, and was not diagnosed with any medical conditions.
After the fall was reported, Naseema was rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with the help of police personnel.
Police are currently investigating the matter.
Naseema's funeral is scheduled after Thursday's night prayer at Aasaharaa cemetery.
