Maldives to appoint 11 ambassadors as non-resident envoys

The parliament on Wednesday approved to appoint 11 Maldivian ambassadors as non-resident envoys to other nations.

The decision was made unanimously by all the lawmakers present at Wednesday's sitting.

The approved non-resident ambassadorships are:

- Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Omar Abdul Razzaq, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Seychelles, Mauritius and Kazakhstan

- Ambassador to India, Aishath Mohamed Didi, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Afghanistan and Bhutan

- Ambassador to Malaysia, Visam Ali, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei and Indonesia

- Ambassador to Singapore, Abdulla Mausoom, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand

- Ambassador to Japan, Ibrahim Uvais, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to South Korea

- Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Haleem, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Kuwait and Jordan

- Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Dr Hussain Niyaz, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Oman and Bahrain

- Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dr Farahanaz Faisal, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to France and Spain

- Ambassador to the European Union and Belgium, Hassan Sobir, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to the Netherlands and Luxembourg

- Ambassador to Germany, Ahmed Latheef, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia

- Ambassador to the United Nations and United States of America, Thilmeeza Hussain, to be appointed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Canada

The 11 ambassadors were previously approved for ambassadorship by the parliament as well.
