Newly appointed Ambassador to United States Thilmeeza Hussain presented her letter of credence to US President Donald Trump on Monday.

Following the ceremony held at the White House, Thilmeeza posted on social media, thanking the US for the close relationship maintained with Maldives and efforts to strengthen the country's democracy.

Appointed to her ambassadorial post in April 2019, Thilmeeza previously held the designation of Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at Ramapo College in New Jersey and was the Co-Chair of the Socially and Economically Just Adaptation and Mitigation team at the United States Climate Action Network.

She had earlier served as the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Maldives to UN, and also held the post of Non-Resident Deputy Ambassador to the USA and Canada.
