Aminath Minna, on Sunday, was elected as the Vice President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Minna, ACC's only female member, was chosen for the position after previous Vice President Muawwiz Rasheed was unanimously elected as the commission's President on July 4.

The corruption watchdog will announce term lengths for the newly elected members shortly.

ACC's former president Hassan Luthfee resigned from his position during the previous week.

The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions decided to dismiss Luthfee for neglect of duties and had forwarded the case to the parliament floor when he submitted his resignation.

While Luthufee did not return to official duties after taking his annual leave in April 2018, the police are currently investigating his involvement in a money laundering case.
