Jumhooree Party (JP)'s council decided late Sunday to elect party presidents for all 87 constituencies.

The party designated the criteria for each of the representative presidents, and decided to hold elections in accordance with said criteria shortly.

According to a JP official, the decision was made to elect party presidents for the constituencies as designated in the parliament, in order to refine party conduct as well as to enhance relations between general members and the party.

"JP is electing presidents for each constituency entirely anew. With the changes, party conduct will drastically be enhanced".

It was decided, additionally, to open the applications for the vacant Vice President post. The time window for candidacy applications closes this upcoming Thursday.

According to the Elections Commission's statistics, Jumhooree Party currently contains 9,334 members.

JP contested for many constituencies in the April 6 parliamentary elections held this year. However, the party was only able to secure five parliamentary seats.
