President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday expressed his keenness to engage with Maldives' international partners to further progress the country's development agenda.

The President stated that his administration will uphold his foreign-policy pledge whilst soliciting the friendship of all nations.

He made the statements during successive ceremonies held early Sunday at the President's Office where he received credentials from the new ambassadors of New Zealand, Australia, Bahrain and Malta conferring their status as their respective governments' chosen representatives to Maldives.

Following individual formal welcome ceremonies, Ambassador-designate of New Zealand Joanne Tyndall, Ambassador-designate of Australia David John Holly, Ambassador-designate of Malta; Stephen Borg, and Abdulrahman Mohamed Al-Gaoud, Ambassador-designate of Bahrain, were all allotted time to exchange a few remarks with the President.

Each ambassador spoke warmly of the bilateral relations their countries have with Maldives, and their eagerness to continue ongoing cooperation with the country in fields of mutual benefit.

The President thanked the ambassadors in particular for their countries’ participation in the upcoming Maldives Partnership Forum 2019, ‘Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives’, to be held at Kurumba Maldives from June 17- 18 . This forum will be the largest multilateral gathering held in Maldives in several years and welcomes development partners from across the globe to pursue new avenues for positive collaboration.

Concluding the ceremonies, the President wished each ambassador success in fulfilling their duties and expressed his optimism that the friendships will prosper during their ambassadorial tenures.
