A High Court delegation, on Sunday, began carrying out trials in their southern branch located in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu Atoll.
Northern and southern branches of the High Court were established under an amendment brought to the Judicature Act in 2014. High Court delegations carry out trials in each branch.
High Court stated that the delegation would be conducting trials at their southern branch from this Sunday to Thursday. The delegation comprises of the justices Abdulla Hameed, Shuaib Hussain Zakariyya and Abdul Raoof Ibrahim.
Although it was originally determined that delegates would be permanently stationed at the branches, the Supreme Court later ruled to send temporary delegation instead due to challenges that arose following the abrupt reduction in the number of judges in capital Male'.
