State Trading Organization (STO) lowered petrol and diesel prices.
According to the state-owned company, from a petrol litre, 78 laari was reduced while from diesel 26 laari was cut per litre.
Changes to petrol-diesel rates:
- Diesel decreased to MVR 11.19
- Petrol decreased to MVR 11.13
Fuel prices were cut down most recently in May. Then prices were reduced from diesel by 14 laari (MVR 0.20) per litre and 10 laari (MVR 0.10) per litre respectively.
STO attributed the shift in fuel prices to price cuts in the world market for fuel.
