JSC meetings to be publicized

Judicial Service Commission (JSC), on Wednesday, determined that information regarding all its future meetings would be conveyed to the public.

Speaking at a press conference, JSC Director Hassan Zaheen stated that the commission would publicize important issues discussed during meetings via local media outlets. Zaheen stated that the measure will be effective from Wednesday onwards and that information will be released after the conclusion of each meeting.

According to Zaheen, the recently compiled criteria for JSC Secretary-Generals was passed during JSC's most recent meeting and applications for the currently vacant position would be opened in the upcoming week.

He also revealed that the meeting was the first one attended by the two most recent members to join JSC, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Thulhaadhoo MP Hisaan Hussain.

The meeting was attended by nine out of ten members and was chaired by JSC's president and Supreme Court's Judge Abdulla Areef.
