The Judicial Council announced plans to form an organisation tasked with serving Maldivian judges.

Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) revealed that, following the decision, documents required for registration were submitted to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment at the end of May.

According to DJA, the organisation is being established under the rights granted by the Judges Act, to protect the freedom and privileges of judges.

A move was previously made to create a similar organisation for judges as well.
