Maldives Police Service on Monday arrested a man accused of stalking and harassing a woman on Male' City streets last Saturday.

According to Police, the man under custody is 56 years old.

Following more accounts of the same individual harassing women on different occasions, police encouraged any victims to come forward with their stories.

Police urged the public to contact them on +960 9790163 or +960 3000600 to share information on the offender.

Other women accused the man of being a serial harasser, after the victim uploaded a video on social media depicting him harassing her. The video shows the perpetrator on a motorcycle holding a phone while the woman asked him if he knew his age.

A tweet by the victim states that the man stalked her from near ADK Hospital on Sosun Magu to the famous ice cream parlour Scoop on Chaandhanee Magu. Moreover, she noted that she told him that he was her grandfather's age and asked him to leave her alone, which only resulted in more sexual suggestions.

She also expressed concern that no one came to her aid despite many pedestrians and drivers witnessing the harassment.
