MTCC to develop tar roads in 4 islands

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure to develop tar roads in four islands.

MTCC's signee was Chief Executive Officer Hassan Shah, while Director General of Planning Ministry Fathimath Shana Farooq signed on behalf of the Ministry. According to the agreement, tar roads would be developed in Fonadhoo in Laamu Atoll, Ungoofaaru and Dhuvaafaru in Raa Atoll, and Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

A total budget of MVR 120,027,118.10 was designated to construct the main tar roads in the four islands. The budget is split to MVR 25,576,576.53 for Fonadhoo, MVR 19,399,771.26 for Ungoofaaru, MVR 28,251,542.52 for Dhuvaafaru and MVR 46,799,227.79 for Hanimaadhoo.

The agreement gives MTCC 204 days to complete the projects.

The National Planning Ministry contracted two projects to MTCC in March. The projects were to develop the ring road in Fuvahmulah, Gnaviyani Atoll, and to construct a harbour in Himandhoo, Alif Alif Atoll.
