The Parliament Secretariat announced the oath-taking of the newly elected parliament members is scheduled for May 28.
Media Director Hassan Ziyau stated that the oath-taking ceremony will take place on May 28 at 2130 hrs, at the parliament house.
“The parliament speaker will be elected right after the ceremony and they will decide on the date of the first sitting”, said Ziyau.
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the main party of the ruling coalition, holds the majority of seats in the new parliament, with 65 seats out of 87.
