Ministry of Finance reopened bid applications for contractors interested in reassembling the historic mosque, ‘Kalhu Vakaru Miskiyy'.

The ministry is seeking contractors again following the poor reception of the initial applications opened from April 8 - 22. The ministry stated that potential contractors can make their submissions until May 22.

Applicants are to pay a bid security of MVR 15,000, in addition to a fee of MVR 500 to participate in the bidding.

The bidding process will be opened on May 23.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had pledged to reassemble the mosque, which was dismantled by the previous government, during his election campaign. The mosque will be relocated to the grounds of 'Rasrani Bageecha', where local telecom firm Dhiraagu's head office was formerly situated.

According to the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Kalhu Vakaru Miskiyy will be opened for daily prayers after it is reassembled.
