The taxi cab driven by capital city Male's only female taxi driver Aminath Waheed, on late Friday, was dealt severe property damages. The vandalism was allegedly caused by her ex-husband.
Maldives Police Service revealed that it is investigating into the matter, however further details on whether any individuals were arrested in relation to the case, were not disclosed.
Local media Mihaaru speculated that the car was damaged by the woman's former spouse after it came to light that he stopped Aminath's car while she was driving and proceeded to harass her at the swimming track area.
The bonnet of the car was bent in the attack beyond its ability to close, among other damages.
Since 2017, when she started being active in the occupation, Aminath is known to be Male's only female taxi driver to operate in relation to taxi centres.
