The Sri Lankan court on Saturday decided to remand two of the arrested Maldivians for 13 days.

According to local media Mihaaru, the Maldivians in question were the ones detained after Lankan police found a book containing information on the Islamic State (IS) inside their house. They were taken into custody not long after they entered the country for medical purposes.

The police also arrested four Maldivian students after finding drugs and an unlicensed air gun at their residence.

Local media reports that none of the detainees has been accused of being involved in the bombings that took place on Easter Sunday.

The IS recently claimed responsibility for the string of bomb blasts across Sri Lanka, which killed over 200 people and injured 500 others last Sunday. The authorities have since launched a mass crackdown to inspect residences across the country.
