Floods damaged five houses in Ukulhas, Alif Alif Atoll, following heavy monsoon showers.
As per the Deputy Council President Mohamed Husnee, a large part of the island is currently flooded due to continuous rain.
He noted that while water entered five houses, the damages were not extreme.
"Because it was day time before the water flooded, measures were taken to protect the household items. And so those were protected from damage".
While work is underway to drain the water, preventive measures are also being taken to prevent houses from flooding.
National Meteorological Centre predicted that Maldives will face heavy rains over the next few days.
