The High Court, on Thursday, ordered the re-apprehension of two individuals charged with planning to carry out a suicide attack in August 2017.
The Criminal Court conditionally released Raa Atoll Maduvvari's Ishaaq Ali and Fuvahmulah's Hussain Afeef in November 2018 after they submitted a request to lighten the detention period.
The Prosecutor General appealed the release at the High Court which subsequently ordered Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) to detain the two individuals at a remanded jail until the end of their trial.
Initially arrested in September 2017, the state charged Ishaaq and Afeef of organizing an act of terrorism.
If the charges are verified, the two will receive prison sentences between 17 to 20 years.
