Maldives Police Service revealed that a team was sent to Mathiveri, Alif Alif Atoll, on Monday morning to investigate the fire that broke out in a guest house.

A fire broke out on Sunday in Casa Mia, a three-storey guesthouse. The fire spread to three adjacent rooms on the top floor, severely burning them by the time the blaze was controlled and put out by locals.

Spokesperson for Police stated that the case was currently under investigation. However, they did not disclose whether any arrests have been made.

There have been talks and accusations that the blaze was deliberately set by some people, however, it has yet to be proven.

The family of Abdulla Jabir, who was elected as the MP of Kaashidhoo constituency in the parliamentary elections held on Saturday, reportedly holds shares in Casa Mia.
