White alert has been issued from Gaafu Alif atoll to Addu City.
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) had earlier issued a yellow alert from Laamu atoll to Addu Atoll until 3:00 p.m. today.
The white alert has been issued for heavy rain, thunderstorms and winds of up to 40 mph.
However, the weather forecast for the next 72 hours shows that the weather will be better than today except for islands in the north.
