The altercation took place in a cafe' on Shaheed Ali Goalhi.
A 44 year old Maldivian man was injured and rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital with the aid of Police.
It appeared as though the man was unconscious when he was taken to hospital on a stretcher, bleeding from his nose and mouth.
Details of the reasons behind the altercation, or persons involved are so far unclear.
Police said that they are conducting further investigations into the incident and said that no arrests have been made as of yet.
