The accident occurred when the motorcycle crashed into a metal fence near the airport traffic lights.
The injured has been identified as a 53 year old Maldivian man.
A Media Official from IGMH said that the victim's condition remains critical and he continues to receive treatment in the ICU. They, however, did not disclose details of the injuries sustained.
As per video footage of the accident circulating on social media, it appears that the man's left leg was broken from his thigh. He also had visible injuries to his face and appears to have been bleeding from a head wound.
Police have not commented yet on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
