In the ongoing official visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel to India, Jaishankar highlighted India's assistance towards Maldives in the current financial and economic troubles faced by the country.
He recalled the 400 million dollar currency swap facility and the extensions on the T-bills brought from State Bank of India which were both granted during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's recent State visit to India.
'I hope that this assistance provided in light of the strong India-Maldives relations have helped to somewhat alleviate your troubles," he said.
"It is clear that India always stands with Maldives. Maldives is the clearest example of India's Neighbourhood First policy."
After the official discussions, the two ministers signed the 'High Impact Community Development Projects' agreement.
