The government has planned many tourism promotion events for the upcoming year, with a target of earning USD 5 billion in tourism revenues in 2025.

In Maldives' 50 year tourism history, this year saw 2 million tourist arrivals for the first time ever.

Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) said that their tourism promotion activities played a key role in reaching the 2 million tourist arrivals target this year.

These activities include three fairs, a roadshow, fifteen social media campaigns and twenty three virtual events, as well as the Discover Maldives webinar series.

MMPRC further said that symposiums were also held in major markets such as China.

With these year's experience, Visit Maldives plans to take on new strategic approaches in the coming year, with content to be designed for digital video campaigns, changes to cultural trade shows, and conducting conversion driven marketing activities.

Events planned for 2025 include launching of Visit Maldives Shop to sell brand merchandise, introduction of a Visit Maldives Calendar which will include all major events in the country over the year, establishment of a centralized hub providing ease for tourists in planning their visits.

A Visit Maldives Academy will also be established, to increase industry knowledge, and educational programs will be designed where a Destination Specialist Certificate will be awarded.

MMPRC said that the Visit Maldives Content Portal which will be introduced next year will be a platform where creators can showcase and sell their digital products and assist in seeking curated content.

MMPRC's main aim is to hold major events in 25 markets in all quarters, with major campaigns for summer season.

Next year's target is to reach 2.2 million tourist arrivals.

MMPRC CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said that based on Google Trends, over 20 million people conduct Google searches out of interest to vacation in the Maldives.
