STO, Doctors’ Union, and the Maldives Medical Association have decided to take special measures to address public concerns over difficulties in obtaining essential medicines.
A meeting was held yesterday between the stakeholders to discuss these issues and establish a more efficient system for medicine accessibility.
Some key decisions made:
1. Formation of a joint committee, including representatives from STO, Aasandha, MFDA, Doctors’ Union, and Medical Association to swiftly address medicine-related issues.
2. Creating an online platform where doctors will have instant access to information about drugs imported by STO and the availability of stock in STO pharmacies.
STO Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim told Mihaaru News on Saurday that the company is working closely with MFDA to resolve medicine shortages.
He also noted that some prescription difficulties arise when doctors specify particular brands that may not be in stock.
