Hameed last served in the Foreign Services during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, where he was the Maldives' Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2018.
Previously, under former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s administration, he held the position of Chief of Protocol for 15 years.
He later served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State between 2006 and 2008.
