Ramadan Preparations: Canned fish cases to be distributed in Male' from Feb 20-28

STO has decided to begin distributing the government-promised canned fish cases to households in the Male' area starting February 20 for Ramadan.

STO has decided to begin distributing the government-promised canned fish cases to households in the Male' area starting February 20 for Ramadan.

The company announced today that, in line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledge, distribution of canned fish cases began yesterday in islands outside Male'. For Male', Vilimale', and Hulhumale', distribution will take place from Thursday, February 20, until the end of this month. The company will provide advance notice if this schedule changes.

STO will distribute the cases from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM daily.

According to STO, each household will receive one case containing 48 cans of 180-gram tuna in oil.

Distribution in the Male' area will be overseen by Male' City Council.

STO stated that in the Male' area, the cases will only be available to Maldivians. They will verify electricity meter numbers and record the recipient's ID card and contact number.

Five canned fish distribution centers will be established in the Male' area:

- Male' City Council Public Services Section

- MIFCO Office Compound

- Vilimale' Council Office

- Umar Zahir Building in Hulhumale' Phase 1

- Youth Center in Hiyaa Tower 10, Hulhumale' Phase 2

STO has also begun sending canned fish cases to islands. Distribution is currently underway in some islands of HDh. Atoll.

During last year's Ramadan, the government provided 1.6 million kilograms of staple foods free to 82,000 households and gave MVR 142 million in electricity and water bill discounts.
