Foreign Minister of Maldives Dr Abdulla Khaleel has met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Foreign Minister of Maldives Dr Abdulla Khaleel has met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)'s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, Minister Khaleel conveyed President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's respects and also thanked the UAE government for its assistance in the development and progress of Maldives.
The two counterparts discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“The two leaders expressed their commitment to cooperate in identifying areas of mutual priority and to work to further strengthen the long-standing relations between Maldives and the UAE,” the statement said.
The ministry said Minister Khaleel briefed the participants of the meeting on Maldives' fiscal reform agenda and key development initiatives. He also thanked the UAE for its valuable assistance to Maldives through the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
Minister Khaleel thanked the government for its assistance in the expansion of Velana International Airport as well.
The Minister was accompanied by Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE Mohammed Hussain Shareef and Ambassador at Large Abdullah Hameed.
