The government has distributed over 40,000 cases of tuna cans in the greater Male' area as Ramadan gifts.
Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef said that as of last night, over 40,000 cases had been distributed in the area.
He added that distribution of tuna can cases in islands are also almost completed.
Distribution in the Male' area was commenced on February 20. Initially, there were five distribution centres in Male', Hulhumale' and Vilimale'.
However, with long queues and public inconvenience, additional distribution centres were introduced, as well as a token system for issuance.
This year, the government is issuing a 48 tuna can case to each household as a Ramadan gift. The cases are issued after checking electricity meter numbers.
