President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that announcements will be made within the month to seek contractors for all planned housing projects designed to alleviate housing issues faced by residents across the Maldives.

The President made these comments yesterday during his visit to Kaafu atoll Gulhi to meet the island's council, Women's Development Committee and residents.
The President clarified that he is referring to housing projects announced for all regions besides capital Male', which will proceed as usual. He said that additional dredgers were being taken now to speed up the efforts to reclaim RasMale'.
He stated that this year would prove to be the year within which the highest number of housing projects are implemented.
President Muizzu has previously announced that a total of 27,000 housing units will be built this year. This includes 15,000 housing units in Male' region and 12,000 housing units across the atolls.
This year's budget also has an allocation of MVR 1.5 billion for construction of housing, and MVR 1 billion for housing loans.
