Four time champion of the Volleyball Association Cup, WAMCO Club, and four-time runners-up Police Club have both started this year's tournament with victories.
In the first match of the tournament last evening, WAMCO won against Asdhigaa Sports Club in three straight sets. WAMCO won 25-5, 25-14, and 25-7, with Aishath Majidha selected as the player of the match.
In the second match played last night, Police competed against Good Games Sports Academy (GG Sports). Police won 25-17, 25-15, and 25-13. The player of the match was Sofia Kreka from Police Club.
Both WAMCO and Police reached the finals last year by winning all their matches. However, WAMCO won the final 25-19, 25-23, 13-25, and 25-21, with Majidha also named the player of the match in the final.
In addition to Police and GG, Pool A includes Volleyball Youth New Generation and Huraa Community Club. Pool B includes WAMCO, Asdhigaa, Flexer Sports Club, and City Friends Club.
GG, Huraa, Flexer, and City Friends qualified for the tournament as the top four teams from the preliminary round held last February.
In today's matches at the Social Center Indoor Court, Volleyball Youth will play against Huraa in the evening. Tonnight's match will be between Flexer and City Friends.
After the Association Cup, the next tournament will be the National League Women's Division. Six of the eight teams from the Association Cup will be selected for the National League. The league schedule is set from April 28 to May 2.
