NDMA Chief Executive Hisaan Hassan told PSM that they are currently working on relocating these persons, whose homes were facing flood damage.
In addition to this, many other houses needed to have sand bags stacked at the entrance to avoid further flood damage.
A large part of Male' is heavily flooded in the rains, with Maafannu being most affected.
As per MET Office statistics, Male' saw the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, with 136.5 mm rainfall recorded.
MNDF are currently working on draining the streets of flood water. They said that they are using 16 pumps in 5 areas of Male' in these efforts.
MET Office earlier warned of torrential rains during this period, and has cautioned seafarers to take precautions and refer to weather updates before embarking on any journeys.
They predict strong winds and heavy rain across the country over the coming days.
