Former President Abdulla Yameen's legal team did not appear in the Civil Court for a hearing regarding his petition to quash a presidential decree issued by the previous administration aimed at halting the "India Out" campaign.

This campaign, which was spearheaded by the opposition in 2022, was met with resistance from then President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who enacted a decree that led to the removal of "India Out" banners displayed, including those at Yameen's residence.

In September 2022, Yameen filed a petition arguing that the presidential resolution was unconstitutional. However, during a recent hearing, the Civil Court ruled that Yameen's lawyers failed to attend without a valid excuse, leading to the dismissal of the case.

Despite this, the High Court had previously determined that the police acted illegally when they removed the "India Out" banners.
