BML announces winners of ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund'

Bank of Maldives (BML), on Thursday, announced the winning proposals for the sixth round of it's 'Aharenge Bank' Community Fund, a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to contribute to society by conducting sustainable community projects.

Proposals selected to receive funds:

• Support for Waste Management System – Kinolhas, Raa Atoll • Community Area – Goidhoo, Baa Atoll • School water supply through RO Plants – Kolamaafushi, Gaafu Alif Atoll • Nature Park with Solar Lights – Nadella, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll • Book donation for Public Library – Fuvahmulah

"We received a number of great proposals for Aharenge Bank Community Fund and with this announcement we have delivered projects in 30 islands which benefits the community", said BML's Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed.

"Our gratitude and thanks goes to the individuals and NGOs for initiating these projects and working tirelessly to deliver it. We are happy to support the success of these projects".

BML selects and allocates MVR 50,000 to five projects in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund.

For 2020, BML announced three proposal phases, with five proposals selected in the first and second phases while the bank will choose 10 winning proposals during the third phase.

In 2019, BML contributed MVR 1 million to support projects in 20 islands, including the Nellaidhoo Community Park, refurbishment of the library in Maaenboodhoo, Dhaalu Atoll, a children's park in Kihaadhoo, Baa Atoll and a classroom for Special Education Needs (SEN) students in Gaafaru, Kaafu Atoll.
