MTCC has said today that the overhead structure of the Presidential Jetty (izzudheen Faalan) has now been completed, with current work being on completion of the roof.
The renovation of Izzudheen Faalan was contracted to MTCC by the previous administration under a design-and-build agreement, with the project estimated to cost MVR 11.7 million (approximately USD 760,000).
However, work commenced on the project in early May this year. Even then, work was delayed citing difficulties in obtaining necessary materials.
An MTCC Media Official said that with the receiving of necessary material, work on the jetty is now being expedited. With the completion of the structure, currently the shingles are being laid and the ceiling framework is being built.
MTCC has not yet announced a date of completion for the project.
