The Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Hussain Shareef has been suspended from his post as the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is investigating a number of complaints against him.
CSC President Mohamed Nasih said today that Shareef is on suspension effective yesterday.
Shareef was appointed as Permanent Secretary back in 2018, when the youth and sports had been under the same ministry.
An official from the Sports Ministry said that the CSC had not yet notified the ministry of Shareef's suspension. Mihaaru News reports that Shareef had attended work yesterday as well.
Nasih said that the responsibilities of the Permanent Secretary have now been temporarily handed over to the ministry's Director General Ali Zaki.
Zaki has also previously served as a Permanent Secretary at the Youth and Sports Ministry, most recently from 2016 to 2018.
