The Prosecutor General's Office has decided not to pursue the case where President Dr Mohamed Muizzu allegedly threatened and intimidated 'Adhadhu' News CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa as there is no evidence that a phrase that can be legally interpreted as such was used by the President.
In a statement issued today, the PG Office said that Police had completed investigation and submitted to duty prosecution a case submitted to them alleging that President Muizzu had threatened and intimidated Fiyaz in a phone call.
The office said that after reviewing the evidence submitted by the Police, it was found that there is no evidence to indicate that the President had used any phrase that can be legally interpreted as a threat or intimidation. As such, the office has decided not to press charges in the case.
As per the PG Office, under the Penal Code, a threat is when a person is presented with threat to their life or injury. However, Fiyaz's complaint is about the President having stated that 'the strictest possible action within the law will be taken against [him]', the PG Office said.
