State Minister of the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, Akram Kamaluddin, has announced the permanent list of housing flat recipients. Plot allotment for those who received land in Giraavaru lagoon is set to commence next week.
Akram made this statement during a meeting with some of the plot recipients on Tuesday, September 12, where he also assured that land reclamation for Hulhumalé Phase 3 will commence on Friday, September 15.
Under the Binveriyaa Scheme, the government is already allotting plots to recipients who received land in Hulhumalé 2 and Gulhifalhu, with plot allotment for Giraavaru lagoon recipients expected to commence next week.
He assured that road development and utility works would begin in January 2024, with a commitment to completing these components within a year. Following which, construction of housing towers will commence.
The permanent list of flat recipients would be announced next week as well, Akram said.
The current government first announced issuance of 5,000 plots, which was later amended to grant plots to all eligible recipients. Akram also said the government has plans to issue additional plots as well.
He assured to hand over plot registries to the recipients before November 5, and have tasked lawyers to expedite the process.
Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) is currently developing 32 18-storey towers in Hulhumalé 2 which would include 1,200 two-bedroom apartments and 2,800 three-bedroom units.
