Baa Atoll Council has signed an MoU with Freedive Maldives to organize a record-breaking diving event in Baa Atoll as part of World Tourism Day celebrations.
The event, named "Baani", will take place on October 3 in the Angafaru area, where around a thousand participants will dive simultaneously in an attempt to secure a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The event will be open to participants from across Maldives, including islands and resorts within the atoll.
According to Baa Atoll Council, the initiative aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation while promoting Baa Atoll as a an attractive tourist destination.
It marks the largest event of its kind to be held in the atoll.
The council also plans to collaborate with the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve as a partner in the activity.
