Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has seized a Sri Lankan fishing boat in illegally in Maldivian waters on Tuesday.
They said Coast Guard had seized the fishing boat 79 nautical miles outside of Meemu Muli. The boat was reported to them by a Maldivian vessel called Alamoo 2.
Six crew members were abroad the Sri Lankan fishing vessel.
MNDF said the coast guard was overlooking the transportation of the boat to Laamu Kadhdhoo.
Sri Lankan fishing vessels have been detained by the coast guard while fishing in Maldivian waters on several occasions in the past as well. Sri Lankan vessels have also been identified in Maldivian waters along with those affected.
