A fraudulent scam message is being sent to mobile phones, with a message reading, "Do you know who I am?" appearing on many devices.

The message, which comes from multiple numbers, promotes an offer from "KIRABET MALDIV", claiming to give away USD 5 to the first 1,000 participants.

The scam message urges recipients to click a link and use a VPN to access it. Some variations of the message also state, "Here's a golden opportunity, hurry up."

KIRABET is an online gambling platform, and police have advised the public not to open unknown links.

The authorities are actively working to block these sites and prevent further fraudulent activity.

Police reported that last year, scam cases rose dramatically, with 1,661 scams reported, resulting in over MVR 20 million being stolen.
