Faisal was dismissed from the post of Minister of Tourism earlier today. The President's Office did not disclose reasons for the dismissal.
In a post on social media platform X, Abdul Raheem defended his son, stating he had worked with sincerity and honesty, and had earned respect in the industry.
Faisal's dismissal has given rise to rumours of rifts between President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and his close associate Abdul Raheem, although none involved have confirmed any such issue.
Faisal's appointment had initially raised allegations of nepotism as well. At the time, Faisal dismissed these comments as baseless, stating that the President had appointed him to the cabinet through confidence in his abilities.
