With crowds of supporters encouraging them, Raa atoll Alifushi team played a strong game against Baa atoll Kendhoo, ending in a 1-5 win.
The Alifushi team consists of many experienced first division players, while Kendhoo team featured many newcomers.
National team midfielder Hussain Nihan (Nihaat), who plays for Alifushi, took the lead with a goal scored early into the match, at just the third minute.
With many opportunities presenting themselves, Alifushi led the game through out.
The second goal was scored by Alifushi Council President Adam Imran, while the third goal was shot by Husham.
The second half presented a new challenge. The lights in the stadium flickered, finally going out. This led to the second half being put off for about twenty minutes.
Even as technicians worked on getting the lights back up, the stadium was filled with chants, and horns and drums of Alifushi supporters.
Once the match resumed, play went on into 25 minutes extra time. In the sixth minute of extra time, Nihan scored the fourth goal, followed by Imran scoring the final goal.
Kendhoo's single goal was scored by Rashad Abdul Matheen.
