Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary election tickets have been confirmed for ten candidates prior to conducting primaries.
The party announced the ten candidates today:
- Ameen Faisal - Kanditheemu constitueny
- Saleem Hussain - Inguraidhoo constituency
- Ali Niyaz - Kurendhoo constituency
- Shathir AbduRahman - Huraa constituency
- Rugiyya Mohamed - Dhangethi constituency
- Moosa Shiyam Abdulla Ali - Mulaku constituency
- Abdulla Shareef - Gan constituency
- Ahmed Saeed - Gemanafushi constituency
- Ahmed Saeed Mohamed - Gahdhoo constituency
- Ibrahim Muizzu - Henveiru North constituency
Previously the party has said that candidacy of those contesting in 36 constituencies with single applicants has been confirmed without the need for primaries. Current parliamentarians and senior figures of the past administration make up most of this number.
MDP's parliamentary election primaries for the rest of the constituencies are scheduled to be held on February 3.
Elections Commission has announced that the parliamentary elections will be held on March 17.
