STO has launched its lemons stock into the market at the price of MVR 40 per kg.
Lemons are currently priced between MVR 65 and MVR 80 in the market. Last week, the price of lemons rose to MVR 100 per kg. Therefore, the price of lemons offered by STO is MVR 15 lower than the current market price.
STO imports lemons from India.
Lemons are also being sold at special rates for those who want to buy them wholesale. A five-kg box of lemons is sold at MVR 145. If customers wish to purchase more than five cases, they will receive each box at the price of MVR 135 per box.

In addition to lemons, STO has also launched several other varieties at lower rates. STO sells coconuts at MVR 5 per coconut. Onions are sold at MVR 16 per kg. They are cheaper than the prices currently on the market.
STO has already decided to launch 24 items during Ramadan:
1. Basic food: onions, eggs, potatoes, coconuts, dates
2. Vegetables and fruits: garlic, ginger, lime, carrot, orange, cabbage, chili, guava, watermelon, mango, passionfruit, cucumber
3. Processed food: Nestlé cream, cocoa powder, baked beans, condensed milk
4. Cooking ingredients: sunflower oil, vegetable oil, Basmati rice
The Economic Ministry said last night that the prices of 134 goods would be closely monitored to ensure that there is no shortage of food items.
The ministry stated that if an item runs out or its price increases, STO will take measures to regulate the cost. In such cases, STO will stabilize market prices by introducing the products through its supply.
