The Olympic Committee announced Ali's appointment and handed him the official letter yesterday.
Ali's visit to France as Chef de Mission will be his second visit to the country in an official sporting capacity. Previously, he visited France to initiate Dheema's training as part of an Olympics scholarship.
At the Olympics, Maldivian athletes will compete in four sporting categories; table tennis, badminton, athletics, and swimming. Fathimath Nabaha Abdul Razzaq will compete in badminton, and Ibadulla Adam will compete in athletics. The athletes for swimming have not yet been determined.
